Seamer Stockings Stiletto Heel Review

I recently found an Australian company called Plus Size Bras that sells modern shapewear and stockings, so I thought I would try out their seamed stockings.

The stockings come in four colours; black with black seam, black with red seam, natural and natural with black seam. I decided to try out a natural pair with the contrast seam, as the quality of the seam is more visible in contrast colours.

When I first opened the pack, I was pleasantly surprised, the stockings felt soft and robust. The nude colour is a really nice nude with a hint of pink and the shimmer is really pretty, but not too obvious . The (fake) seam however is very disappointing, it’s thick and has been sewn in a messy fashion. Just to be clear, only fully-fashioned stockings require a stitched seam to keep them together, these stockings were circular knitted which means that the seam is purely decorative.

To be bluntly honest, I was a little embarrassed to be seen walking around with this chunky, messy seam up the back of my legs. They seem more suited to a fancy dress costume, rather than paired with a casual day dress.

The black foot of the stocking is extremely short and did not come close to being long enough for my feet, although I do have large feet (UK size 9). As a consequence, there was no heel visible once I stood flat on my feet, the heel just vanished into my shoes.

In terms of leg length, they came up very short on me. Again I have long legs (I’m 5’11”), however these were really short.  As you can see from the photos below, the bottom of the welt comes up just above my knee. It wasn’t too much of a problem on this occasion as I was wearing a long dress but I would say that these would be better suited to a shorter lady.

The welt itself however is surprisingly nice; it is a very good replica of a nylon welt which means that it is very deep. This is probably my favourite things about these stockings.

The cost of the stockings is nothing to get excited about either; at 10.95 AUD, I could easily get a much nicer pair of stockings.

Here are some pictures that my partner sneakily took while we were walking from Bondi to Coogee (this walk is 6km – I like to properly road test my stockings!). Despite my partner putting these stockings on me straight, they managed to work part of the way around my legs throughout the walk. I’m not sure if this is down to sizing but it was quite annoying.

Overall, I’m giving these stockings a thumbs down. I don’t think I will wear them again, never mind, buy them again. Oh well, it’s good to try out new things!
