Jasmine Reviews the Berdita Corselet

Being plus size and curvy finding a corselet that fits me is almost impossible. I need it to be big enough for my bust and hips but then small enough to come in at my waist.

Granted I know this is pretty much impossible, so when I stumbled across the Berdita Corselet. I just had to give it a try. I ordered an open corselet with a zip front.

First I have to say I ordered this from Plus Size Bras (an Australian on-line Store) and was a little confused with the size guides.

I ordered a 20F hoping to help with the fact I usually wear a 18G (38 to 40G). When it finally arrived it was actually a 42F. So just keep that in mind if you order.

On the positive they go up to a 52 back size and a F cup.

I ordered the beige.

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 10.01.36 pmFit wise it is a little hit and miss. But I suspect that is entirely my shape. The next size down would have been much better, firmer fit all over but I suspect the cups would have been way too small then.

As they were the cup fit was ok enough, a little gappy at the bottom. It created a decent pointed shape. It did make my bust sit a little lower than I usually prefer.

It is made from a Power mesh and lace with a Fabric composition of 80% Polyamide, 20% Elastane.

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 10.02.00 pmNow I will say right away my skin can be a little sensitive at times. I am the kind of person who has problems with wool being scratchy.

So saying that…DEAR GOD THIS WAS ITCHY AS HELL. The worst was the mesh in the bust area. It was very hard not to scratch my boobs in public.

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 10.02.08 pmAt first it was pretty damn unbearable, there was also quite a few loose threads. It did get better after a few washes. Now if wear it i tend to also use Bullet Bra Pads to help prevent this.

The front closes with Hook and Eye clips and a zip.

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 10.02.22 pmThe bottom is open and had 4 removable metal clips.

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 10.02.29 pmThere is also a silicone band around the bottom that does keep the bottom in place pretty well with no stockings attached.

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 10.02.38 pmThe bottom did sit pretty nicely, just under my backside. As I mentioned before, it was not a firm fit but good enough.

So my overall verdict, while it was definitely not the best fit for me, this is a great option for those of us with a bigger bust and more on the plus size side. It creates a lovely vintage shape in the bust area and would look wonderful with or without clothes over.

It is comfy enough and very easy to wear. The zip makes it super simple to get on and take off. No more shapewear contortions with this one, that dance / acrobatic trick we all do trying to get into some shapewear pieces.

On  whole I would say it is a win, even if it was not a total win for me.

  1. Jasmine thank you for that review!
I’m in the same boat with cup sizes and curves so always struggle to find something that fits well enough.
I’m also one with sensitive skin so not sure how I’d go with the mesh either.
    Definitely food for thought though.
